Wind is probably the most annoying thing in all sports. Find out how to ride in it efficiently below. Hunching down is very important. If you do that, you have less surface area for the wind to puch back on. Put your head low so that your chin is touching the stern of the bike. Think of the headwind as just a big hill. Just as you would a hill, shift down a few gears and keep your motivation high. Even though the wind will slow you down dramatically, don’t try and keep a constant speed. All that does is demotivate you and waste energy. Even though you’ll be going a different speed, just try to use the same amount of energy as you would when there’s no wind. In the off season for cycling, it’s very important to have another sport or activity to do. Firstly, I would recommend some sort of strengthening. Try taking a weight training class, or if that’s too difficult try just lifting them on your own at the gym or at home. More importantly, you need to be doing aerobic exercise. This means things that get your heart pumping hard for more than 20-30 minutes. You can do things like jogging, swimming and mountain biking. It’s important that you’re consistent in your training. Try to go to the gym at least five times a week, and more if you can.
