Are you a Triathlete or Duathlete ? Then maybe you’re finding it hard to slot training-time in with work and family.

This is the second article that gives you some key principles that can help with your training. If the first article isn’t just above this one, then you can find it at Duathlon Training.

Holistic Fueling

Unfortunately many endurance athletes use the rigor of training and a speedy metabolism to justify a diet that is incredibly calorie dense (as it should be), but also high in foods that can damage their performance, immune system, heart, hormones and overall health. If they improved their diet , maybe they wouldn’t have to train so much ! With an exercise program that’s already very difficult for the average human body to absorb, a triathlete or duathlete must adopt a nutrition routine that supports complete health. Powering up the immune system, reducing toxins and inflammation and focusing on promoting rapid recovery are all important parts of the solution . A healthy meal plan includes anti-inflammatory foods and nutrition supplements, avoids common traps while grocery shopping, and gets a perfectly balanced ratios of protein, carbohydrate and fat. When your cells are firing on all cylinders, it feels great during a long day race. Providing your body with good, balanced food is crucial in making sure that your body remains in top condition and avoids any damage as a result of high intensity training and racing .

Time Flexibility

There will be days when you can’t complete a planned workout or you have to mix-n-match workouts in order to attend an important board meeting, make it to your kid’s soccer tournament, or go to a holiday party.

Because cycling and running programs involve a lot of different blocks of training, a good workout plan is one that’s organized so that it can be incredibly flexible. Then when you need to, it can be re-arranged without disrupting the overall effectiveness of the program. For example, one week in your schedule might involve Monday and Wednesday cycling and strength training sessions, Tuesday and Thursday runs and a Friday rest day. But you can easily shift the workouts to separate days , or even choose a different day for a rest day. Flexible weekends are important too – choose which days to complete the workouts depending on whether Saturday or Sunday is best for you .

You may have heard that the average duathlete or triathlete cycles 300 miles per week and runs 30 miles per week . And maybe you’ve heard stories of the year long sabbaticals from work, the neglected families, the ruined marriages and the obsessive life style that results from the really difficult attempts to uphold a normal lifestyle while training; or that the majority of these individuals walk across the finish line and have a complete lack of confidence and preparation for the race, despite giving up their lives to barely even complete the race!

Plans actually do exists that allow you to make good use of your time and still have a life and some reviews of these can be found here: Duathlon training

Waterproof walkie talkies are not superseded , they will never be. For someone who camps and sails a lot, I know why it is imperative for me to have one in my survival kit. Even though we’re on the “cellphone” era , I still carry my trusty walkie talkies each time I would go in an adventure trip . What are you supposed to do if you get lost in the woods and your mobile phone can’t get a signal ?

Walkie talkies have drastically improved over the years. Aside from the benefit of extended range, you can also get them without worrying about the hefty price tag attached to them . They come in assorted sizes, colors and cool features. Personally, I prefer a waterproof walkie talkie that comes with an interference eliminator and built in weather alert signal. You can even find units that have an emergency button that has the ability to transmit an emergency SOS signal should the need arise.

The convenience and ease of operation that waterproof walkie talkie radios offer is the main reason why you need them in your survival kit. A lot of campers find walkie talkies to be a very useful way to communicate with their fellow campers. Cellular phones do not ordinarily work (no signal) in separated or mountainous areas which is why two way radios are a staple in every camper’s bag. They are a great item to have just in case someone gets lost while camping.

I would definitely recommend buying walkie talkies that has up to 30 miles range. Of course it will be more expensive but your peace of mind is invaluable. Knowing that you can still reach somebody as far as 30 miles is what you’re actually paying for. Two way radios have a lot of great features and most units already include chargers, ear buds, microphone and spare batteries. Some units are specifically engineered to work really well even if signal is being blocked by metal or some terrain. The walkie talkie is indeed the only device that can work when all other communications fail.

It can happen that you have a break from riding. possibly the weather conditions aren’t right, or you’re convalescent from an injury. But even if you don’t have a break it’s still important to check your bike occasionally and tune it up, so that nothing important breaks or fails on you when you’re speeding down the road.

So here are things to check. Start with your chain. Chain links wear down as you ride with the result that the effective length increases, and as this happens, the chain doesn’t conform to the cog and teeth of the chain ring. If you haven’t replaced yourchain in a year or more, it’s probably time to do it. Replace it before it stretches too much, you’ll save yourself from having to replace high priced cogs and chain rings.

Bearing surfaces: These include your bottom bracket, hubs, and the headset, which should each turn freely without a problem and with no play in the system. Before checking the bottom bracket, make sure each cranking arm is snugged tight. Then hold onto the crank arm (not the pedal) and wobble it back and forth. Any clicking noise, or if the crank arm binds, indicates that the bottom bracket should be adjusted .

Wheel hubs should be done the same way by taking the wheels off the bike, spinning the hub axles and feeling for any free play or binding. If you get this, then you need to make an adjustment.

To check the headset ( where the forks turn ) put the wheels back on the bike and then pull and push the handle bars back and forth, and there shouldn’t be any play. when you lift the front of the bike off the ground, the fork needs to turn really smoothly, and if not the headset needs to be replaced or fixed.

Check the condition of your brake cables and housings at the same time. You don’t want any cracks in the housing or rust cables and if that’s the case you need fix it, or your shifting and braking will be sluggish.

Brake pads. Most pads have ridges or indicator marks that show you when they need to be replaced. Brake pads that are worn out are a danger, because you can’t stop properly !

Once you’ve got the tune ups out of the way, it’s time for a bike workout, so have some fun!

Downhill MTB is a sport that has seen a continual rise in popularity over the last few years, both in the UK and abroad. Traditionally, mountain biking is a sport that can only be enjoyed by those who are fully able-bodied. That has all changed recently however, with the addition of the Rough Riderz club, who have come up with a way for both able-bodies riders and wheelchair users to enjoy the thrills and speed of downhill mountain biking.

The Rough Riderz team utilise an ingenious new bike design that features 4 wheels instead of 2, and can be fully enjoyed by anyone who no longer has the use of their legs. The bikes are used on downhill runs and are powered by gravity, meaning the rider only has to worry about braking and steering the bike. The bikes can move very quickly, reaching speeds of well over 30mph, even over very rough ground.

The bikes are open to be used by anyone, although usually you’ll find they’re used much more by the disabled riders. There are several different methods for setting up the four wheeled bikes, all of which give different results, so no matter what your age or level of experience, there’ll be a suitable setup for you. Whilst the sport is designed for disabled riders, users must have the ability of their arms and hands in order to be able to properly control the bike. Although the vehicles are used mainly on downhill courses, using gravity to produce the speed, they can also be ridden using self-propulsion over short, flat areas.

If you are disabled and want to take part, you’ll need to buy your own bike and equipment, although some places do offer help with funding. Maybe one day you’ll be able to buy one of these specialised bikes using the Mobility Scheme, although this isn’t an option at the moment.

So if you’re looking for a disabled vehicle that’s insanely quick, packed full of adrenaline and amazingly good fun, you’ll want to ignore the Nissan NV200 and head straight down to the Rough Riderz club!

For those that are interested in the sport, you can find more information on the Rough Riderz website: www.roughriderz.co.uk

There are two types of brakes available for men’s mountain bikes. The 1 may be the older, traditional ‘V’ brake or rim brake, the other may be the modern disk brake. Both kinds have their benefits and disadvantages and the final selection you make depends on budget, what type of mountain biking you intend doing and personal preference.

The old type of braking system may be the ‘V’ brake, which is a modification of the older cantilever brake, has been around for decades on all kinds of bicycles. The brakes slow down the wheel clamping down a rubber brake pad onto the rim from the bicycle wheel. The brakes are controlled via cables. This is a simple, cheap option and is simple to maintain, repair and utilize. Rim brakes are lighter than disk brakes, because there a fewer components.

Rim brakes do have down sides although. Rim brakes tend to wear out the rim of the wheel and over time, the rim can collapse from the constant frictional wear. Rim brakes are slower at halting the mens mountain bike. Rim brakes require undamaged, perfectly level rims to work successfully. Any bumps or flaws about the rim surface will trigger brake judder. This makes it hard to control the bike while it’s braking from high speed. The rim brake does not have a big surface area to press against, which adds to its braking inefficiency. If severe braking is done constantly, the rim brake pads will trigger a slight depression on the rim. Which means that the tyre has a tendency to brake at one point only in its revolution, causing flat spots on the tire.

Even though disk brakes have been used on automobiles for numerous decades, their arrival about the bicycle scene is fairly recent. From the mid 1990′s disk brakes were fitted to off road bikes like mountain bikes. The performance of disk brakes on men’s mountain bikes is superior to that of rim brakes. Simply because the disk is situated in the center from the wheel, the wheel stops quicker when the brakes are applied. This really is due to the relative distance the outside of the disk travels in comparison to the rim of the wheel. Disk brakes are better for higher speed braking and are more suitable for muddy and wet conditions. This really is partly because of the location from the disk. Being within the center from the wheel, it’s much further away from mud and debris than the rim. Disk brakes allow for easier wheel changing.

The stopping power of disk brakes can be increased by using a bigger hub. This really is essential for downhill racing mountain bikes. Disk brakes can be of the mechanical type, or from the hydraulic type. Hydraulic disk brakes are much more responsive and need less force to push the brake calipers together. They’re much more expensive though and need more care and maintenance. Hydraulic disk brakes could be fitted to permit the front tyre to turn 360 degrees without cables getting tangled up. This really is useful for trial and stunt riding.

The major brake type for men’s mountain bikes since the mid 2000′s have been disk brakes. The overall performance benefits they provide far over-shadow the additional pounds and cost, compared to rim, or ‘V’ brakes.

mortgage refinance Just as the invention of the bicycle itself is somewhat unclear, so is the history of bikes that fold. One reason is that the definition of “folding” is somewhat debatable. Many references in history refer to “folding” bikes, which were actually bicycles that one could disassemble, in other to transport them. Furthermore, several inventors in various countries claimed to be the creator of the cycle that collapses. Still, one of the strongest arguments for such bicycles’ invention is for Michael B. Ryan. The American received a patent for his invention, in 1894.

But that was over a century ago. Speaking of 100, today over 100 producers of the folding bike exist. This popularity of this type of bicycle has recently skyrocketed, primarily due to the increased use of transportation of the multi-modal variety. Such transportation has become particularly popular in certain regions of the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia.

juegos The cycling jersey is fashioned using prominent colors from the cycling event, like the yellow jersey from the Tour de France, or from the cyclist corporate sponsor, like the famous teal Bianchi racing team. The jersey is longer in the back than in the front and fits snuggly to offer air resistance. It is made from quick-drying, lightweight, polyester material. In addition, pockets have been placed on the back of the jersey for easy access.

real estate investing Next, there’s the issue of the frame’s material. Cycle manufacturers use four primary types of materials for a cycle’s frame. The most common materials for top-quality trek bikes include carbon fiber, titanium, aluminum, and steel. All premium bicycles have one or more of these materials, providing lightweight and sturdy characteristics.

Here’s a rundown on the four materials. Steel is quire durable and affordable, yet can rust easily, and is typically quite weighty. Next, aluminum has become the most common material for bicycles. The newest types of aluminum are alloys, helping to reduce the amount of turbulence while riding. Meanwhile, titanium is a strong and long-lasting material, yet also the priciest one. Finally, carbon fiber is ultra-light, rigid, and resilient.

Another crucial tip when selecting trek bikes is to choose the right number of gears. It’s important to select a mechanism that meets your particular cycling needs. You should base the number of gears that you need, on where you ride and how you ride. If you basically ride on level terrain, then a double crankset (usually 20 gears) would be sufficient. However, if you ride on various types of terrains (including hills, plateaus, and mountains) then you’ll probably need a triple crankset (usually 30 gears). You’d also typically require additional gears for applications such as training and racing.

Finally, tires tend to last for roughly 1,000-2,000 miles. This is based on various factors, such as your riding method, your weight, and the location of the tire (front or back). Tires are crucial for cycling, so you may need to upgrade them if their design or sizing is wrong for the primary type of riding that you do.

When shopping for bicycles, you should definitely consider trek bikes. For over 30 years, they’ve been producing some of the top cycles in the industry. You can find the perfect bike for whichever type of cycling you do. Who knows? Perhaps you could be the next Lance Armstrong! You can be published without charge.
